The first thing is diction. Juz is not a word, but Just is. Start from there. The words you choose and the order you place them are what make a poem. I would say letter, but short of Cummings, I have not seen anything memorable with scattered letters, and even his work like that is sub-par to his less cubist work.

I think that the first step to writing poetry is to figure out what in the hell youre really all about... who are you and what do you care about? Find some aspect of this insane world which dazzles you in particular, and write about that. Or, write about some concern or problem of the world which you care greatly about.
Thats just how I look at poetry. I think it should have some relevance to the world. Good luck in either case.

"In the most silent hour of the night, ask yourself, 'Must I write?' " ~ Rainer Maria Rilke

I dont know what you mean by the "proper" way of writing poetry, but I'm sure when the muse comes, it brings the way along with it. :)
Reading some of your favorite works may help the words flow. Though personally I choose not to do that, to avoid influence.
I'd say nothing is proper, till you make it so.

Just write, and don't worry how -- there is no way.
Free yourself from that judgment and appreciate what you do as whatever you want it to be.

I do not know really how to write poems. poems are written spontaneously and effortless not mechanically. It pours from your heart. Do try o write poems the way you like it and you will be doing something amazing. Unlike prose poetry does not demand of you too much craftsmanship. If you are charged with overflow of emotions you will come up with wonderful poems.

I think that it's difficult to define a good poem...when you've written something, read it, and if you feel that you wouldn't be ashamed to show it to one whom you love more than ought else on Earth, you've written a good poem. Or more simply, if you can read your work and feel good about having written it, the work deserves to live. I sometimes love my stories, but never love my poems, so I'll never be a poet, I'm afraid.
