It's May Day, a play day,
a blue sky, green grass day,
a day for dreaming of garden angels,
for walking around looking for grape hyacinths
and lusting over the lilies-of-the-valley,
their sweet sweet smell, the delicate bells
hanging white and tiny with a wind tunnel sound
only a butterfly can hear, so much cheer,
the warming buds, birds preening, everything greening,
and the sun and the slight breeze and the fragrance
have their way with me as I play this May day.
