So I don't know if anyone ever made a thread like this, but if not, I think it's right about time. I know all of you know Virgil (duh!).He was probably the first person I knew when I first joined in. I think it'll be a massive understatement if I said that he is 'nice' (well..most of the time at least :p) and that I truely learnt so much from him literature wise (and on a human level as well). He helped me with my writings, always giving me feedbacks and all. I consider him a good friend of mine on this forum, I'm sure many feel the same way. So basically, come here and show him that he IS that popular...lol.

I second that--more and more I stand in awe of his common sense, well reasoned opinions and advice and general good nature.

I couldn't agree with you two more! Yes, Virg is awesome! It is a ceaseless pleasure to interact with him and even just read his posts!

That's right. I love his profound knowledge of literature and his sense of humour. We're not always of the same opinion - but that's a good thing. How boring if there was nothing to discuss.

Wow, what a nice thread to start for one Lit Net member who deserves a star on the forum's 'walk of fame'!
Nossa,It was the same case with me, because Virgil was one of the very first people I meet on this forum, and he helped me right away, by making me feel totally welcome here. I was impressed with that; it made me think this forum had to be a great place to explore. He continues to impress me with his intelligence and his fine posts and wonderful poetry. He's a great guy, a good friend, and always ready to aid or encourage, and that applies to everyone here who knows him.
He's taught me much in the Lawrence thread discussions; how to go about analysising any literature, for that matter. I don't know what we would do without him. He keeps things moving along. It is always great to debate with him and discuss any author/topic; he is very intelligent and I truly appreciate the time he takes for this forum and each of it's members. It is wonderful to hear he has helped others with their projects/writing. Once I reluctantly posted some poems I wrote and he was nothing but encouraging.
Considering all this, no wonder he is so well liked on this forum. He truly is one of our greatest assets! A gold star for Virgil! :)

I remember the time when we had some trouble in our country and Virgil was considerate enough to PM me asking about my well being. :) A very interesting person whose knowledge of literature (especially at Lawrence thread) is phenomenal. At places I might have disagreements with him, but let's not talk of them at Virgil's appreciation thread. :p

who is this Virgil person? I've seen a lot of his posts and it does seem he knows what he is talking about. I wonder what he is like in person. But someone shld really talk to him about his spelling.

I expect at least one post from every registered member of litnet ... ok, not every. I know of Virgil's popularity in the forums I frequent: general lit, poetry, authors etc. I went to the teacher forum the other day and it felt like I stumbled upon the New World. There were people I've never seen before.
Anyway, Virgil is a credit to Litnet. I value his opinion to the point that I will read a thread that doesn't interest me, only because he was the last poster.
Virgil is very supportive of new writers and writers in general.
Note to Virgil: I will want my copy of your first novel, or collection of fiction, signed.;) That is not a tall order either, because we both live in NY.:D

Is it Let's-Pamper-Virge Day? :D Lol.
Nah truly, he's a great great guy. To me, he'll always be the one who first noticed and appreciated my presence in this forum when i first started posting. :D
Hugs to ya, Uncle Virge. :p

When I joined Litnet about a month ago, Virgil was the first person I came across whom I felt shared similar points of view to my own. Here's to a great conservative, an intelligent writer, and an all around good person.

Virgil was one of the first (second I believe) to welcome me here and make me feel welcome to the forum. :)

Is it just one day? I think we need more than just one day to appreciate Virgil! :D
I haven't been around on the forum, that's my excuse. But I could never miss a thread like this.
You know I think you're awesome. ;) In fact, I probably wouldn't have come here to begin with if it weren't for you. I seem to go anywhere you suggest, perhaps that's a bad thing. :p

I'm sorry I was away for Virgil's Appreciation Day! But I shall continue to appriciate Virgil, among other litnetters, for a very long time to come. :D From what I remember he was one of the very first people to really make me feel at ease here, and he's also one of the few people who posts on my blog! And I definitely appriciate that! :p So thankyou, Virgil, for being such an awesome person! I wish all the best for you in the future :)

I don't know Virgil personally, I have never spoken to him before but it doesn't prevent me from respecting and appreciating his sensible opinions, he seems to be so nice since he helped everyone who asked for his help. I wish all the best for you:)

Why Naomi that is so nice of you. I haven't gotten a chance to welcome you here. Welcome to lit net. Your profile says you like DH Lawrence. We have a thread where we discuss Lawrence's short sotories. Feel free to join us if you wish. :)

Thanks Virgil ;) you are so kind. I like D H Lawrence writings indeed but I have read only two of his writings so far: Lady Chatterley's Lover, and The Rocking-Horse Winner.
I'll try to do more reading and I'll definitely have a look at the thread.

If everybody only did what is necessary, what a boring life that would be - and probably an unkind world. :D
FINALLY!! Someone made a we-love-Virgil thread!!!!
Virgil helped me tremendously before Regionals-- got me first in Myth in Leon County!! Then he helped me before States!! What would I do without him?

Well we read a short story and we spend a month discussing it. It's a fun way to read together and learn. You can get all the short stories on the internet too.

There is a shocking dearth of dancing bananas on this thread, which are surely a necessity for a thread celebrating our venerable and virtuous Virgil.:banana::banana::banana::banana::banana:
Always glad to see you posting, Virg. :)
