A question about Oliver Twist

Hi all. I have a question in Oliver Twist.

There is one word "aweer" of the sentence :"Are you aweer, Mrs. Mann, that you are, as I may say, a porochial delegate, and a stipendiary?" in chapter 2 of the story.

I couldn't understand it , thougn i have cudgeled my brains and the dictionaries at all.

Could anyone tell me the definition of it?

I am new to English.

well thats what happen if u ate too much kitkats..strange things happened
