Just a new idea, never posted a game before. One person asks a riddle, and everyone else has to try and answer it. If you get it right, you post your own. Might be fun...

I'll start us off:

A crime scene shows a man, laying on the ground, with three gun shot wounds in his chest. Next to his body is a pistol and a tape recorder. The detective comes in and presses play, the tape recorder going into the man's ranting about his life and why he was committing suicide. At the end of the tape, the three gun shots are heard, and the thump of the body ends the tape.

The question: Is this a homicide or a suicide and why?

Its a homicide. Because One you cant record your self dead and if you did Two the tape recorder would be left on which hence the cop would not be able to press play because the Battires would Be dead. So Murdered.

That took a lot less time than I expected. Bravo.

Try another one

Alright, ummmm...

This one is a little more tricky:

Fred and Wilma (no relation to the Flinstones) are laying on the ground, dead, and there is some glass and water surrounding them on the carpet. If you were to look around the room, you would notice that the window is broken and it looks like something was smashed in the room.

Question: Who or what are Fred and Wilma and how did they die?

(My friend told me this one, and it is a little weird.)

Good Luck!

Hint: You can ask some yes or no questions to help get the answer, but to keep it productive, ask more than one.

This is kinda Funny. There Fish. something was thrown through the window
and knocked over or broke the fish bowl killing the fish. if im wrong Which way was the window broken

... Yeah... I need to think of some fresh ones.

Here we go; try this one:

You are walking through the woods when you come upon a naked man, dead, on the ground. You look around and see a nearby cliff and some items strewn around as far as you can see. You examine the body and see that he is laying face down and is holding in his left hand an unlit, small match.

Question: How did he die? (Give the scenario and feel free to ask some yes or no questions.)

Its alright man. i love riddles, never Do them though. i dont know why, but i like those good job.

Ok theory would prove that he jumped off the cliff but you wouldn't be able to hold on to a match that long or even after you hit the ground. so what are some of the items on the ground?

pbmn
04-24-2008, 08:28 PM
They are just some heavy junk, such as a cooler, clothes, etc.

ZaphodBeblebrox
04-24-2008, 08:29 PM
So was he on drugs? Does he have any marks on his body?

pbmn
04-24-2008, 08:30 PM
No, he was not on drugs; the only marks on his body are from the impact of his body on the ground.

ZaphodBeblebrox
04-24-2008, 08:32 PM
so he was ether pushed off a cliff or jumped off him self. what else could there be

pbmn
04-24-2008, 08:33 PM
I'll give you the hint I gave you a couple of posts ago: the items were heavy. He did not fall from the cliff.

ZaphodBeblebrox
04-24-2008, 08:35 PM
ha ha ha ha some one droped large objects on a naked man about to light a fire?

pbmn
04-24-2008, 08:36 PM
No, but nice try. You do have the dropping part correct, however. Think about how he fell... or, what did he fall from?

ZaphodBeblebrox
04-24-2008, 08:38 PM
hit in head then fell off cliff?

pbmn
04-24-2008, 08:43 PM
He was not hit in the head by anything (although the items were dropped...from what?) and he did not fall from the cliff. Nothing fell from the cliff.:p

ZaphodBeblebrox
04-24-2008, 08:44 PM
so where the hell did the stuff come from

pbmn
04-24-2008, 08:47 PM
Think of something from the sky (my friend and I had the same trouble as you on this one, it took us a while to realize what was going on).

ZaphodBeblebrox
04-24-2008, 08:49 PM
well it doesnt give a lot of info. From a freaking plan?

djy78usa
04-24-2008, 08:51 PM
He was dropped, along with his camping equipment, from the UFO that had abducted him two hours prior. He woke up while in the UFO, and tried to fight back against the aliens with their natural enemy, fire. He grabbed the book of mathces (which, lucky for him, were sitting on a tray near the naked alien probing table) and threatened his captors with one of the matches. Unfortunately for him, the aliens were faster to the draw, and shot him with their "freeze stuff to peoples' hands gun." This explains why he was able to hold on to the match throughout the fall that ultimately killed him.

Am I close?

pbmn
04-24-2008, 08:51 PM
no, not a plane, but you are definitely getting very, very close. Think of weight and flying. What would really need to drop a lot of heavy stuff to stay afloat?

Djy, nowhere near close, but the scenario is, well, humorous.

ZaphodBeblebrox
04-24-2008, 08:52 PM
hot air ballon?

pbmn
04-24-2008, 08:53 PM
Bingo! Now, can you explain the match and the nudity? If not, I can tell you.

ZaphodBeblebrox
04-24-2008, 08:58 PM
he tossed those first(clothes that is) was going to or trying to light the thing mabob that heats the ballon but woe is he for he was to late.

djy78usa
04-24-2008, 09:15 PM
like Zaphod said, he (the dead fella) got naked to cut weight. Then, he and his friend (who was also in the balloon) drew straws, well matches actually, to see who would have to jump. He drew the short match.

pbmn
04-24-2008, 09:22 PM
Yeah, that's it!

djy78usa
04-24-2008, 09:23 PM
Alright, I've got one. Not sure whether it would be classified as a riddle though. Give me the next line of numbers and tell me how you got there: (HINT: Math will get you nowhere ;) )

1
11
21
1211
111221
?

djy78usa
04-25-2008, 12:11 AM
Hint #2: Try reading each line one digit at a time

djy78usa
04-25-2008, 12:05 PM
Hint #3:
break the numbers into groups of two, i.e.:

1
11
21
12,11
11,12,21

I enjoyed both the "puzzle"?,"riddle"?, and the clever use of the binary "10"
as the number of types of people who understand binary. I, of coursse, fell right into your trap and read the "10" as ten. Clever!!
I also liked your hints or clues to figure out the number of each numeral in each preceeding line of numerals.
Keep 'em coming!!
I'll learn to type better for next time.
Thanks.

Thank you. I wish I could claim the binary quote as my own, but I stole it from one of my coworkers. And you are correct, each line describes the line above it:

1
11 (There is one "one" in the above line)
21 (There are two "ones" in the above line)
1211 (There is one "two," then one "one" in the above line, so on and so forth)
111221
so the missing line is: 312211 (three "ones," then two "twos," then one "one")

Alright, new one:

You are standing in a hall outside a room. On the wall there are three lightswitches. Each switch controls a lightbulb inside the room. You have to figure out which switch controls which lightbulb. You can manipulate the switches however you wish, but the door to the room must remain closed while you do so. Once you have finished with the switches, you enter the room, closing the door behind you, and you cannot reopen the door to play around with the switches again. How do you do it?

Amundsen

the door aren't putting together hall and room

djy78usa
05-17-2008, 07:22 PM
nope, there are no tricks (such as windows, etc.) to this riddle.

Amundsen
05-18-2008, 09:15 AM
you will be switching off and on one switch until lightbulb blow up, or will be broken, next lightbulb you will switch on and last one you switch off. It's this?

djy78usa
05-18-2008, 02:25 PM
well, that's not exactly what I was going for, but it's very close (and would probably work, although it would take quite a while), so I'll give it to you. Well done.

The other way would be to turn on one light, leave it on for 10 minutes or so, then turn it off. Turn on the second switch and leave the third one off. When you enter the room, there will be one light on, one off, and the first one you turned on will be off, but the bulb will still be warm.

So my riddle. It's from one computer game, so that could be controversial I am just copying it.

A man says, "If you lie to me I will slay you with my sword. If you tell me the truth, I will slay you with a spell." What must you say to stay alive?

That's it.

Okay, my turn:

1=3; 2=3
3=5; 4=4
5=4; 6=3
7=5; 8=5
9=4; 10=3
Why?

Answer to my riddle: You will slay me with sword.

But all ways which you can survive are good.
