It seems feckless but I am quite curious where and when you guys read? Is it somewhere you have no choice such as the work break room, or can you only read in the evening or in a particular room?

I usually alternate between reading at a desk and a couch. I try endlessly to read while riding in a car but for some reason I make less progress there than anywhere!

I can only seem to read best either very late at night, or the moment I wake up. Anything in between, I suppose I'm too distracted or my mind simply isn't polarized enough.

I read during work as well in a small outdoor place. I would read a lot more outside but it's a chore to get to a park or anywhere decent...

how about you guys?

Most of the time I read in bed after dinner. My favorite place to read is at Land Between the Lakes. I've started going for weekend hikes there. I love finding a clearing in the woods or an empty spot by the water and reading or writing for a couple of hours before I head back.

In bed mostly, regardless of time of day. I often read at school too, especially in the classes I abhor, like math and econ.

I tend to go in spurts, whether it's reading, writing (mostly poetry, but tried a couple novels which will probably never get published), and playing computer games. I am also a Special Olympics athlete. When I do read, it's usually in the morning before I start work or at lunch (if certain co-wokers don't distract me). Otherwise I read on the bus going to work or home (again if a certain co-worker isn't talking toomuch or too loudly). Also at home in my chair and a half recliner, with my 55 to 60 pound Boxer who thinks she's a lap dog curled up next to me. She's 6 years old. Also have an 8 year old Golden Retriever. Names are Cleopatra (Cleo) and Sassy. Take your pick as to who's who. :) In good weather, I like to sit in a lounge chair at the edge of the walkway going to my front door and write my poetry.

I read when I feel like doing it. Often at the barber's shop. At times in the toilet room.

Reading is an obsession, a habit, a fantasy I can not do away with even in my dreams.

I read at home usually after dinner. I have a reading room which is great I don't have to share the lounge room to read.

I always have a book in my bag so if I am ever waiting say for a doctor or dentist etc i have something to read

Mostly at my desk, between ten or so at night and two a.m. When, on going to bed, I find I can't sleep, I read there for another hour or so.
For homework, anytime, anywhere.

Preferably in a big comfy chair in a sunny spot. Otherwise, bed will do nicely.

I used to read anytime anywhere, but these past few years I have developed the habit of reading when I go to bed at night. If I am not too tired, I want to get in at least 1-2 chapters. It just doesn't seem like I ever have any time to set aside for reading during the day anymore. Whereas, right before I go to sleep, I know I will have time that I can devote to it then.

only in my room. in the philippines you're doomed once they catch you reading anything but Dan Brown, Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings.

Anywhere and everywhere, at almost any time! Before school, recess, lunch, after school, at the local library, at the school library, in bed, on the couch, laying on the floor. I read at anytime really, normally way late into the night.

I must admit though, I have some favourite places and times to read:

1. When it's hot I like to sit on the edge of the pool with my feet in the nice cool water under the sun and read.
2. When it's hot I also sit out in the peaceful front garden on the seat out there under the sun and read
3. When there is a MASSIVE storm and I'm all rugged up in blankets listening to it, reading, and preferably with a specific person next to me. (This would be my most favourite situation in which to be reading)

Reading can be enjoyed anywhere and everywhere at pretty much any time, which is one of the reasons it's so great! :D

Well I read everywhere and at anytime in the day for a very long period of time, I can't stop in the mid unless I'm really tired and I can't open my eyes, or I'm so distracted that i can't keep up reading. I dislike reading in bed because I fall asleep immediately so I can't read, so I can't read,

I'm in the "anywhere and everywhere" category.

I do love reading in a crowded place, just finding a corner and sinking into a book. It's great to be in a big bustling place, and yet find solitude in an imagined world. And I do almost all of my creative writing in that sort of environment.

lying down on the couch or in bed. IF its not too hot out I'll read on my deck and catch some sun at the same time

The majority of my reading is in bed, 10pm to about 2am, though I do also read on the bus to and from work and some times in work on my lunch break.
I prefer to read alone but I can manage with people around just fine.

In my living-room, in my bedroom, in the bus and in the train on the way to work.

When I was younger I used to prefer to read in my bed, but as I was growing up I gradually abandoned that habit, and nowadays I cannot even picture myself reading in bed, and avoid reading in my bedroom or spending time during the day there - for some reason I figured I sleep and rest and function optimally if I dedicate my bedroom only to sleep and rest, which is why I threw out of it anything which has nothing to do with it - therefore no technology nor books nor anything of the kind in my bedroom. I'm lucky to have two rooms, therefore I always use the other one for any academic activities, usually reading at my desk, or in our living room where we have really comfortable sofas and chairs.

I also love reading in libraries, school during boring lessons and in whichever means of transport I find myself in (from trains to cruisers), as well as in caffes. Other than that, however, not really - I used to be one of the 'universal' readers as well, who read everywhere, but am no longer, it seems. I find it hard to read, for example, in the nature, which most people seem to enjoy.

Regarding the time of reading, anytime, really. I can read at 7 am, as well as in the midst of the day at school, or very late at night at home. It varies, I catch myself reading rather in multiple smaller sessions throughout the day (ranging from as little as 45 minutes up to 2 hours) than at once in a specific time of the day a lot.

I almost always start reading as soon as I jump out of bed in the morning. I read in the kitchen mostly, also on the couch, and sometimes in my study. Very rarely do I read in bed, the lighting is not adequate.

I read mostly in the evenings after all the kids are in bed. We only have one comfortable chair- and it's in my bedroom- so I can make brief escapes duing the day. Hence- at night I read on the sofa.

Usually once a week I'll go out to get a beer and I'll take a book or Smithsonian magazine along....lol! you can't imagine how awesome it is to have no one talking to me nor having to listen for anyone crying :D

I read everywhere possible -I refer to all places where there is enough space for me to keep the book in a reading position. However, I think I don't prefer reading in bed because I usually am so tired when I get there that I cannot keep it up for long (in cases like this I prefer more uncomfortable places, where unfortunately, I have found out lately that I can sleep too :brickwall ).
Probably my mostly preferred reading period is summer holidays, since, then, it's the only time of the year when I can really read for as long as I wish :)

In my bed, before switching the lights off - 1-3 hours/day.
In an armchairs, in the living room, before doing my homework.
At school, when a teacher misses that day from school or at the end of the semesters, where we don't do anything there.
Outside in my garden during summer holiday.
In my bed, all day long in holidays. It depends on the programme I have.

Mostly in bed. As for when, I don't know. If it's during studying time, then it's normally before I go to sleep. 45 minutes to an hour before I sleep. If it's in vacation, then anytime of the day.

In bed, usually either right before I go to sleep for about 30 minutes or in the middle of the day, when it's really hot outside, for a few hours. Or I bike down to the park and spread out a blanket in the shade and read there. That's pretty delightful.
