she can't look into their eyes:
her head bows,
weighed down with rosy cheeks and awkward,
half-hidden smiles.

she doesn't know where it comes from:
this stumbling, maladroit of a mess,
that ensues her so arduously.

but come it does
certain as the steady beat of a war-drum

maybe one day she will
mold that beat into clay
that she can shape with her fingers
messy, but made
by her clumsy hands
into something solid

how do i melt into you this time?
when everything is gone but right now
when we can't go on pretending
that maybe we'll find a way somehow

that we won't wake up in the breakdown
of everything we thought we might be
i alone see the truth in the horizon
the raw and caustic things that you refuse to see

i have no answer, no resolution
to the fog in this confusion
and i am not your answer
so forget you ever thought i could be

when you think about me
how do you think about me?
all you want from me is what you need
all you want is something that i can't be

you feel free to say
that you are right, while i am wrong
but if you were to look into your self
could you listen to your own painful song?

in the notes, you and me are made
built up and then eroded away
you've been pointing your fingers at me
but you will be the one crumbling one day

fear makes you fragile darling
hate is too heavy when you're weak
now we're both lost in anger
when we're alone we will find our peace

flesh, the thing that covers us
his tanned but white
freckles, those tiny little dots
his so small and light

eyes, what we use to see
his so blue, so clear
sight, the thing that shows me you
so intangible though here

hearts, the things we use to keep
that special someone dear
memories, those infectious things
that make him feel so near

hands, the things we use to feel
his so softly strong
but every time i reach for him
i am told that it is wrong

feet, the things we use to talk
to keep us standing strong
but not even those will hold me up
since he's been gone so long

lips, the things we us to kiss
to reach out in a different way
mine, so lonely and empty now
since his have stolen away

souls, the things we use to decide
what it right from wrong
mine has been making up it's mind
and his name is its only song

Such a sad poem! But I thought these lines were especially effective:

i alone see the truth in the horizon
the raw and caustic things that you refuse to see

fear makes you fragile darling
hate is too heavy when you're weak
