Alright, so my paper topic is about how Winston is a "flaw in the pattern" in the point of view of the party. The simple answer is obvious, but I really need help fleshing out my answers.
My two main points are that Winston believes that the party cannot control the past,
and that he believes that they cannot control common logic.
(evidence to support my claim must be taken from the first torture session with O'Brien)
For my first point, I'm going to be using the part about "the" picture, and Winston talking to O'Brien about who he thinks Oceania is at war with, along with their conversation about the nature of the past.
For my second point, I'm going to be focusing mainly on "2+2=5".
-----------------------
Basically, I have all my evidence and answers, but if anyone could help me with the explanation of how all this makes Winston a "flaw in the pattern," that would be much appreciated.
