I am an Island
I am an island
Though I’m not supposed to be
Steep and rough cliffs hem me in
And keep me from the world
Living not so far away from me
But they are unreachable
And I am an island
Stormy oceans rage
Keeping me away from them
I long to be with them
To sail through calm waters with them
To see their sun, and moon and stars
Not obliterated by these clouds
Of habit
But to feel the soft breeze of their conversations
And the warmth of their smiles.
I am an island
Isolated- close enough to see
But too far to reach out
And grasp onto what I need
I was never meant to be an island
But I am
And they are unreachable.
I am an island
Though I’m not supposed to be
Steep and rough cliffs hem me in
And keep me from the world
Living not so far away from me
But they are unreachable
And I am an island
Stormy oceans rage
Keeping me away from them
I long to be with them
To sail through calm waters with them
To see their sun, and moon and stars
Not obliterated by these clouds
Of habit
But to feel the soft breeze of their conversations
And the warmth of their smiles.
I am an island
Isolated- close enough to see
But too far to reach out
And grasp onto what I need
I was never meant to be an island
But I am
And they are unreachable.
