Hello

I am trying to find out the name of a fairy-tale I am hoping to use in some university research I am undertaking.

In the tale, there are two farmers – one poor with a clever daughter, the other rich. A judge asks questions and the clever, poor farmer’s daughter answers them correctly.

Her answers show an awareness of nature and the cosmos, which is clearly important for farmers who are tied to the land, as
opposed to the rich farmer who appears tied only to money.

Does anyone know the name of this tale, please?

Thanks.

Steve

Maybe it's a parable, maybe biblical. It sounds familiar.

The Peasant's Clever Daughter. :)

That is, if you mean this one:

Hello Aiculík

Thank you for the link.

That sounds as if it might be right (I only have a fragment of it). The 'moral' of the tale appears to be that in the real world of tilling, sowing, and farming, a knowledge of land and weather is more practical than a love of gold coin.

Thanks again.
