How is contemporary life different from history? You ask the broadest of questions. It is different in almost every way. Traditional literature is based on oral tradition, whereas Contemporary literature is based on a literary tradition.

I interpreted your question the way I wanted to answer it, since you make no distinction.

Good contemporary literature is not significantly different from literature written in the past. Bad contemporary literature is much worse than the past's bad literature, because some really bad stuff gets published these days that wouldn't have survived a first reading in the past.

Well, the bad stuff written in the past isn't exactly going to endure for years and years like the good stuff has.

True, the bad stuff from the past has already been forgotten, but percentage wise there wasn't as much as there is now.

Which reminds me, earlier today I saw a copy of the da Vinci Code on the $1.00 books table at a used book store.

:alien: I found Dan Browns " Angels and Demons " to be a better read, than the DaVinci Code, which i enjoyed a lot.:alien:
