Remember narratives where you could choose what adventure/ plot you wanted to take. Simply by deciding, you turn to the page written and your adventure would continue! Im a student writing a report on this very subgenre. I need YOUR help! How do you feel about these books? Is this literature in its truest makeup? Do you think these books were as popular as you would think? Do you know of any websites offering information about authorship or information on these stories. Share anything.

I'm in for it now...
Whilst I don't remember coming across these it sounds like an interesting genre/subgenre. Do you know any authors or titles?
Q: Literature in its truest makeup?
A: A specific plot/narrative didn't do anyone any harm. Not to say that The Atrocity Exhibition is not a great, if chilling work
Q: These books were as popular as you would think?
A: Well, I don't really know how popular they are but they are probably not very mainstream. That is not always a bad thing

I was referring to the thread topic, not your post. Please go to the homework thread for a clearer view.

Someone who is not familiar with the network might find it difficult or may not even realise that there is a thread for homeworks...
Well Scher, there's not ... at least yesterday wasn't. :)
Didn't know there were books like that, thought it were only web sites with novels/stories/whatever like that.

subterranean, `ignoring' threads means not posting to them.
We want newcomers and we want them to feel welcome. If people don't like a topic, I suggest they hit the back button and ignore it.
Thank you BSturdy for your positive input here.
subterranean As per Logos' advice..I will ignore this thread.

Going back to the topic, where can we see examples of this 'subgenre'? Sounds intriguing but I don't think I have come across anything like it. It pretty much sounds like video games...
One of my cousins was obsessed with these kinds of books years ago. A sci-fi series (I think) of books, can't remember the author, but yeah you could decide which plot line to continue with.
I found a lot of mention of this, At the Side of David: A Multiple-Ending Bible Adventure (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0819807680/qid=1100727705/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_1/104-4321804-0173559?v=glance&s=books) on Amazon.
I found another site when I did a google search for `book plot your own'
http://www.gamebooks.org/cyoalist.htm
and I recognised some of these books as the ones my cousin was obsessed with!
I've never read one as I'm not big on sci-fi fantasy stuff.
This is the updated link to the one above, lots of background info and references to these types of books.

hmm.... never heard of this genre... pretty cool anyone know where i can find one online?
As per Logos' advice..I will ignore this thread.
Eh... by posting this you clearly aren't ignoring this thread... ;)
I remember reading one of those books. I didn't really get anything out of it, because it didn't show me the main characters feelings. I was the main character, but I read a book to experience someone else's feelings for a while. I also got frustrated when I would see different pages of another plot of the story but I could never seem to get there.
