hey y'all!
i'm currently doing an essay on the greek play "medea" by euripides. i need to identify how medea challenges and reinforces ideologies of the greek audience.......i need to include alot about context (ie. typical gender roles etc)

As for needing a lot of content....I can help you out by saying that for the most part, the best place to find the content of a play is.....in the play. Hope that helps.

As for traditional Athenian ideology - just know that women had absolutely no power in Athens at the time - they were expected to care for the house, the children and the servants.

I would say that look closely at the way that the chorus responds to Medea. They are an interesting thermometer for how an audience might react.

If you need context - well, Medea is such a well-known and significant play that you will find plenty of essays and examinations of Greek society and Medea if you look in the library.

In my opinion the most famous point Medea is known for is the fact that she causes the death of her own children.
