Please Help!!

I Am Writing A Paper On The First Three Chapters Of Crime And Punishment. I Have Decided My Theme Will Be The Depression And Guilt Rodion Endures Because Of His Crimes. I Need At Least 3 Books Or Articles That Can Compare Or Contrast My Theme. Any Help Is Greatly Appreciated. Thxs

In the first three chapters, has Raskolnikov actually comitted the murder? I'm not entirely sure; I thought he didn't kill the women until the end of part I. Though, you may mean the first three parts, and I'm just interpreting it wrong.

Also, Raskolnikov doesn't so much feel a sense of guilt at his crime (after all, he doesn't think he's done anything wrong) as a sense of "OMIGOD THEY ARE GOING TO FIND OUT I KILLED THE LADY AGH!!!" It's more desperation than guilt.

I think it would be interesting to contrast Raskolnikov with Mersault (I think tha'ts how you spell his name) from The Stranger/The Outsider (title changes, depending on the translation) by Albert Camus. There were a number of similarities in the situation: both Raskolnikov and Mersault have committed murder, and both will eventually have to pay the repercussions of this. The situations do differ, but there is the similarity that two people who are abnormal in both the ways they think and react to things have committed murder. The difference is in howt hey cope with everything.

If you would want to read The Stranger, it's only about 120 pages, and could be read fairly quickly.
