I never thought I would see the day that I said a bad thing about snow, I generally don't mind it until after Christmas when it won't go away. But then, we normally don't get snow until December, and most often not a snowstorm right away. Yeah, this year has to be different. Not only do we get snow in November, but it is too much for the power lines to take and we have no power in most of my province for a while, some people aren't expected to get power until Friday. (This is Monday...) Yeah, just wanted to vent my annoyances of the last couple days, and express extreme joy that I have HEAT! :)

How are people going to cope without power? I bet all the stores are out of lanterns, candles and flashlights. Is there still running water? If that goes your hooped.

The funny thing is, we have had tonnes more snow before. I don't know what was up with this storm, but it was not fun. Some people still don't have power, and may not up until next week now they are saying. If you have a well, you had no running water. In the towns, there is water, but people were taking a lot and they had to shut it down so that there was some in case of a fire. It was an interesting experience, I am glad that my power is back. They were saying it might be a week, and then it was only 2 days. That was very swell, I would have went nuts if it was a week.

Canada can be so crazy with its weather, today when I was wlking home it started to rain, and since it was cold outside, it was freezing rain. I wish it were spring.

Woah, yeah I heard the east coast of Canada got dumped on the other day, yikes.

But

I love snow! especially the first few big snowfalls, where it's that really soft smooshy fluffy stuff great for making snowmen and snowballs, I love winter! until, like, New Years' Day ..........

then I'm fed up with it all, though it still lasts another 3 months.

Grrr, I'm jealous! I'd rather lose power because of a snowstorm than a hurricane (though we personally got lucky this year). It would be so nice just to curl up by a fire when everything around you is frozen. I love the feeling of "thawing" out! It's still not cold enough to turn on our heater but at least we don't have to blast the air conditioner anymore. Lucky you get a change of senery without going anywhere. Here it's the same ol' *drone, drone,....*

Okay, losing power in hurricane is better than a snowstorm. Wait, it wasn't even a snowstorm. The power just went out, there were downed wires everywhere and it was cold. And, I heard that people died during it. :( If it was like early fall or late fall, it would be warm enough for just a blanket. At night for this power outage you needed a million blankets, and it isn't even the middle of winter yet. I am so greatful for that

hey losing power because of a drought is no picnic either especially if you dont have a generator, massive amoutn of must be typed homework due the next day and tempetures in teh high thirty degrees in late afternoon... the only releif is a hammock stretched across the corutyard with a drowsy cat laying on your belly... hmmm i miss those days.

*wonders does kushi have any now?*
we in eastern pennsylvania are getting 12-16 inches by the time this ends tomorrow. (sunday, for those of you for whom it's already tomorrow, teehee.) it's so purty!!!! an enormous blanket, and just luscious when i went outside earlier in the day.
though of course tomorrow i'm going to pretend to be officially snowbound and do nothing but study. :) i hope my boots are high enough for monday!!!!

hopefully our int'l airport really will reopen at 8 pm...hopefully the playing field (and spectator's seats - think of all the cold bums! (reference to tushies, not people)) will be ready for the NFC's championship game tomorrow...

ooh, are these (http://www.nbc10.com/slideshow/4120351/detail.html?qs=;s=20;w=320) great (http://www.nbc10.com/slideshow/4120351/detail.html?qs=;s=6;w=320) or what (http://www.nbc10.com/slideshow/4120351/detail.html?qs=;s=13;w=320)!

We have some good snow-cover though it rains pretty often recently, then it's cold so the mess that's left of wet snow just freezes and it's all... yucky.

After shoveling a patch for my dog, twice. I dug out my car, then I ended up sliding sideways down a major road. It's not even good "snowman snow", I'm done with it. Where's the heatwave? A tropical heatwave?

Black ice is the scary part, and freezing rain when it freezes on the trees and it fals down. Naturally one would presume that it's dangerour to stand underneath a tree in such a condition, and that would be correct. Only some dolts always die.

My husband expects a huge inflow of people moving in from the north after this winter. He sees dollar signs that our property value will go up. I see a good opportunity for vacancies up there so we can get out of this awful humid, blindingly sunny, same boring senery, state. He loves it. I don't know if it will ever happen.

I'd much prefer Florida than Jersey because of the stupid snow.

Have you ever been to Florida in August? You can't get anything done because everytime you try to get up off the couch you have to go take a shower you get so sweaty.

Exactly. Also, sunblock and aloe are staples down here, even if your not a beach person.

More annoying than the snow is the damn, inferfal plow that insists on coming past my house at 3 in the morning. Stupid flashing blue light & beeping.
I wouldnt particularly mind the plow if the driver did his job properly, but he only clears half of the street (i live at the end of a dead end street) & a huge patch is left where he cuts the corner. I do however get some enjoyment from watching the idiots who dont live in this street spinning their cars on the ice.

I think it's the plowmans' code: Thou shall not plow until 3 am. I live on an end unit in a condo and there are always huge piles inches from my car. Last time I hade to dig out after they plowed. :rage:

Maybe it's a conspiracy of snow plowers. One day you will wake up and they will have pushed all the snow over your car.
