So I was wondering... have you ever conducted any serious research for a story you've written or are writing? Most of my work is fantasy fiction that comes from my own head, but I've another story that I'm thinking of writing. The only problem is that it will take a ton of research to compile the necessary information and ideas. What is the best way that you have found to go about getting the information that you need and organizing it? Are there any sources that you've found to be more reliable than others, and are there any sources that you would recommend I avoid entirely?

I appreciate any help you can give. The story is still going to be a fantasy, but it is also blending in mythology and aspects of crime. It will be some time before I start it, but it is in the working.

Take Care,
Meg

i think that research is an important part of the process. A piece of written creative work should be convincing otherwise it shall seem too unrealistic. Fantasy exists because it is believable - which is actually what a lot of people consider the antithesis of fantasy! if you are thinking of involving elements of mythology, then get a few books on the subject from a shop or a library and simply read them. i have come to view research not as a necessary evil, but rather an enjoyable learning experience that will actually make you think harder and deeper about the subject you are trying to address!

best of luck
