Need major help with my essay.

It's for Honors English 10. It's generally about Huckleberry Finn; you have to prove whether or not Huck Finn is a racist novel. I got a 63%, I almost never get papers lower than 80%, but I'll admit that it was horrible. My teacher said the problems were connecting and combining ideas, it needs editing, and I guess more page numbers for evidence. Can I have some pointers?

I'll second Chase's suggestion and add my own two cents: research. Maybe quote some reliable sources of literary criticism, it help me everytime. And sure, rewrite, and if you rewrite it only partially review it carefully to make sure the new sentences make sense in the context of the old ones.
