Lawsuit Against Large Hadron Collider!

Chaps and Chappses,

A Lawsuit have been filed against the particle accelerator due to be opened in July.

The lawsuit is filed by an American (who else could think of such things? :D) against CERN, the reaserch body that is building the giant particle accelerator to solve the mysteries of the Universe.

The lawsuit claims that LHC will create mini black holes and goble up the whole earth!

So folks what do you think?

Should we start planning for the doomsday with party hats?

Or should we be concerned about it all?

Concerned? isn't that what they plan to do? create mini black holes? I don't know but their stocks have been falling for past 6 months :goof:

erm i don't think so. i think they are tyring to create the temperature of the universe 1 second after the big bang.

Because it is interesting, duh!
Science is the art of satisfying your own curiosity with the money of the state as my physics teacher used to say. Although it can produce interesting and profitable side-effects for society too.
I remember an anecdote where some mayor asked, I think it was from Edison, what good would electricity ever do. He answered that he didn't know but that they would start collecting taxes for it someday.

I guess you've got a point there :)
but on the other hand, shouldn't they be looking for the Satan particle first before they look for the God particle? ;) I mean, some guys in the religious forum say that the creator is always more complex than the things he creates. assuming that Satan was created by God, he should be less complex and therefore easier to discover, shouldn't he? ;)

I think that the case will last long enough so that the accelerator will go into use, and there will be actual results for the judge to use in determining the case.
