Please help me find a piece of literature / short story?

I'm not sure if this is what you're looking for but Ralph Ellison's "Battle Royal" certainly involves one group of people (whites) dominating and suppressing another (blacks), and the blacks are definitely treated as a commodity, or at least as entertainment:

I will take a look, glad to see some sort of response, 3 days of googling, and some desperate Yahoo Answers & Cha Cha attempts didn't help much.

I am really not looking for something like prejudice, something like a group of people (preferably a company) going for personal gain, and excluding their competitors from ever being able to achieve such a thing. There are also other aspects that can be involved such as stealing ones posseisions, property, anything materialistic in order to achieve something such as this.

I will take a look at the story though...

Well Animal Farm would be perfect, but that's not a short story!

Hmmm... I'm sure there must be something.

Maybe "The Boarding House" by James Joyce? It features a mother who is the landlady of a boarding house and takes her daughter out of school so she can flirt with the men boarding there and be married off. One man of a higher social position takes an interest in her daughter, and the mother bides her time and lets events take course before finally pouncing and forcing the man to marry his daughter at the risk of personal scandal, even though the man wants to continue being single. The mother sort of whores her daughter out so she can gain a higher position in society. Doesn't apply exactly, but it was as close as I could think.

superunknown, I feel so bad for wasting your time, I decided to make the very hard decision of changing my entire project topic to pretty much as general as I can get (the direction I was heading with "monopoly") which was Corrupt Power. Notably in Government, insituitions, corporations, whatever it may be.

Do you by any chance know of any short stories on those? Please and thanks so much for your support!

Actually I just thought of something! Gabriel Garcia Marquez's "One of These Days." The story features a dentist in a town dominated by the brutal dictatorship of a Mayor. This works on two levels because the dentist, as his own sort of private rebellion, takes advantage of his own power to deliberately make the Mayor suffer while treating him, in revenge for "twenty dead men." Not sure if it amounts to 4 pages though:

Oi, yeah, it's definitely a bit too short, I was unable to stretch it (convincingly) into 4 pages...does anyone else have a better idea?
