At the moment, I only listen to the dull hum of my hard drive, but earlier I listened to piano works by Claude Debussy (classical).

I listen to whatever happens to be on my play list for the day while chatting but if I am reading the news or forums, prefer not to listen to anything as it can distract me at times;or I end up not hearing what has been playing at all.

I've heard of the yahoo channels Scheherazade but never tried, one more distraction I don't think would be a good idea!

If I'm working on the comp I don't listen to anything, but if I'm just chatting I'll listen to tunes I have on my harddrive with winamp. Been listening to new Tom Waits stuff lately :D

Another one that likes Rammstein!
Right now I´m almost addicted to Los, from their new album Reise reise. It´s on repeat, especially when I´m alone at the office. There is a piece in Los that sounds like Smoke on the water and the combination is fantastic. Do you like Laibach as well? Tanz mit Laibach is a new favorite of mine.

I would never have believed that Laibach would make dance music.

I usually put something familiar one while I'm reading. I've found that I associate parts of a novel with whatever song I was listening to at the time, so later on thinking about/hearing/reading one will make me think of the other. Quite helpful for studying, actually.

Oh, and to actually answer the question, I like to think of my tastes as fairly eclectic, with I Mother Earth, Opeth, The Mars Volta, Nick Drake, Kyuss, The Mingus Big Band, and Rachmaninoff leading the way.

I'm still hearing Morrisey from the show I went to see just a few hours ago. It was very nice.

At home, nothing new. Miles Davis's Lift to the Scaffold and U2's Pop, to warm up until their next album comes out (which BTW, has the crappiest name I've heard in years, and it's easily their worst).

at the moment i'm listening to bono+the corrs 'summer wine'.

Have you heard the song, "Time Enough for Tears?" I think it was written by Bono and performed by the Corrs. It's in the Jim Sheridan movie, In America:

Let's read the trees
And their Autumn leaves
As they fall
Like a dress undone . . .

Beautiful.

It was very cool, it was the first time I got to see him live. He was part of a festival which included Primal Scream, Blondie (which I got to see also), Death in Vegas, Goran Bregovic, and Pet Shop Boys, among others. The sound was somewhat bad according to the artists and journalists, but being so near the stage I didn't noticed. I think excluding a heavy metal concert I went to see when I was younger, this was the most violent event in the field I attended to (more than when I went to see Oasis, to name an example). That surprised me. I guess Morrisey/Smiths fans are very passionate. ;)
The show itself, although short (it lasted a bit more than an hour and a half, not surprisingly, considering how festivals are), was mindblowing. It consisted in a few songs from You are the Quarry, others from his solo repertoire, and some Smiths classics. To name a few: How Soon Is Now?; First Of The Gang To Die; November Spawned a Monster; I Like You; Bigmouth Strikes Again; Everyday Is Like Sunday; Let Me Kiss You (which he accepted, was "a bad idea" :D), Shoplifters Of The World Unite; Irish Blood, English Heart; The More You Ignore Me, The Closer I Get; There Is A Light That Never Goes Out (which closed his concert, and after the show, he left playing Sinatra's My Way). Moz himself wore a priest outfit, said some things about Bush (which were widely accepted), made some jokes about his album sells, and gave a very decent performance IMO. Again, it was cool. I was very happy to have attended it. I even got the guitarrist's prong!
Overview: 9 crisaors :)

You one lukcy bastard :D :D (this is a true compliment ;) )

I havent seen Morrisey live, not even the footage or bootlegs :( :bawling:

well thats what i read from many of theri concert reviews. Any particular reason why He choose Sinatra's My Way to close the gig?
Last gig i went to was Suede's. Was pretty good as well and i stand at front only a one a half meter away from the stage.. And until now i still remember how smooth Brett Anderson's arms look...And i'm so darn sure that, when the show was over, Alex was lifting up his bottle beers and saying cheers towards me ...

Thanks for the review Cris. I can always count you when it comes to good reviews

That's a shame, but I can relate to that. There's tons of artists I wish I could see live. And this one was my first Morrisey, so maybe you'll get the chance in the near future.

I think he relates deeply with that song, after all, he's a different artist than the majority, and I'm not referring to music only.

Hm, what do you think if we recommend one song (only one lol) to the others?
we could write a list.

We could also include songs that are not international. For instance, i would recommend you:

"Luna lunera" by Estopa (love that song)

I think we can find them in the kazaa or emule, can't we?
well, tell me what you think :P

I know there are people who dont like to listen to non-english songs, but i think it's a good idea to know more about other cultures.

Yeah, but you probably do not understand the words. We mean, i.e We are an estonian, but could you understand estonian song lyrics if you were not a finnougrist or if you didn't knew estonian?

But of course We can tell a good estonian song - "Vaadake paremat poolt" by Dagö.

A good song in english - "Wild mountain thyme" - Celtic folk song arr. by John Ross for SATB choir.

We heard it here (http://www.sibeliusmusic.com/cgi-bin/show_score.pl?scoreid=4420&storeid=-1)

ehmm..Jerry ???
Jerry Seinfeld. Remember that episode where George does all the oppposite things he'd normally do and hits it off? Elaine on the other hand goes down the hill. Jerry is the only one who always manage to get even. Ok, so maybe it wasn't the best analogy, but it's a fun one. ;)

I thought you meant reading a book while listening to music. What? This is a literature forum...I can't do it. My friend can, though, which I think is nuts. She also falls asleep better with the lights on while her boom box is playing music. Crazy lady.

I'm listening to "Total Eclipse" by Klaus Nomi. (My favorite by Klaus) *jams*

I listen other music than DEVO, you know. :p Technically I listen to lots of different music, I just listen to DEVO far more than the others. What can I say?
