I do not want a flame war. What I do want are some well thought out reasons or opinions as to why Shakespeare's work has any worth or value in the modern world. As I sit at my desk filling out a 4 page work packet on act one scene one of A Midsummer night's Dream that consists almost entirely of copying down passages from the play, I have trouble believing that any useful information can be gleaned from its study. To you, I am probably just be one of those people who doesn't understand or have an interest in literature and writing, but without explaining my methods or thinking, I will tell you that I am capable of critical analysis. I can't see the value of the largely intangible things that literary analysis aims to produce, and I would like the opinions of the people who visit this website.
