i was in no way advocating drugs as good for anyone. except insulin of course. okay so that's a hormone.
anyway, i'm glad that the topic was shut down; i thought it was inappropriate to begin with.
i would also like to point out that my responses were were the ultimate in sarcasm, a tool that i rarely exercise, inspired by seeing the awful havoc that i've seen drugs wreak in individuals, homes, and societies.
end of explanation/rant.

Only last week lost a family friend (a doctor himself), who ODed himself... So please can we just let this subject go? Or at least save it for Private Messages if there are really burning issues you are desperate to get out of your systems?
This forum is by no place to discuss these...
Thank you.

I am sorry for your loss, and moresow sorry for reopening a recent wound.
I humbly apologize.

sorry to hear that...
you aren't required to read every thread...i think discussing the dangers of substance abuse is helpful, or there wouldn't be ads on tv for it.

thanks for the sympathy...
I still stand by my earlier comment that this forum is NOT a place to educate people on such issues...

I would have to respectfully disagree, any place is a good place to preach against these substances.
I don't mean to offend, but it is important that other people learn about the negative consequences of substance abuse.

Editted the smiley as it seems to be causing confusion... It was merely there because that is how I feel regarding the whole drugs issue right now. It never meant to be offensive to anyone.

tiggy, what's de nada means?
Scheherazade

In Spanish de nada means "you're welcome" or more literally "it's nothing--don't mention it."

Thanks for the clarification on your part amuse though I realised you were being facetious, I've come to know your sense of irony and humour around here ;)
I will remind members here that this is an all-ages forum.
Positive discussion encouraging drug use will not be tolerated and while it may be a slippery slope, it's possible that general mentions of anti-drug use could be done without moderation, though I don't encourage deliberate attempts to discuss because it could end up in debate and another closed thread. Rules are rules.*
Scheherazade, I'm very sorry that this topic has hit you close to the heart.
As usual, I suggest Private Messaging for things that are not allowed in the forums. ;)
*Personally, I'm not saying or believe in the `sweep this issue of drug use/abuse under the carpet and ignore it!' kinda mentality, I think it is good to discuss and be aware of and that can be done via Private Messaging, or, there are forums on the `net where you can do this.
But I am here to oversee that the forum rules are followed and that this an appropriate place for everyone.

Not meaning to offend but isn't anti drug sentiment apropriate for all ages, after all it is important to teach even the youth that drugs are a problem.

Scheherazade's right. Do you speak spanish?
Scheherazade

No, unfortunately Spanish is not one fo the languages I speak. I picked up 'de nada' along the way;no idea when/where/how.
One fo those things I guess :)

i have a friend who lives in california and can use marijuana medicinally - has a doctor's note and all. it is due to an eating disorder. i don't know how effective it is in treating glaucoma, but that is another purported use for it.

do you know, in ancient china people only paid the doctor when they stayed well. cool, hunh. if we only had that approach to healthcare today (yes, i'm in the health care field, but even so) people would be so much better off. we also probably wouldn't have schedule V or even I drugs. well, maybe plants, but still.

That would be pretty sweat, it would cut down on experimental drugs.
