All the years of my life
My heart has beat true,
From my first breath
It will to the last.
All the years of my life
My spirit has held a course,
Waiting, searching, hoping
For fulfillment: Was not blessed.
All the years of my life
My heart and spirit cried in silence,
For a love that would value both
While waiting: Was not found.
All the years of my life
Are close now to their end,
Yet still, this deep longing:
My only sure friend.
All the years of my life
Never given
to the one not found,
The love: Kept within.
At the last, at life's end
Before I am laid to rest,
Remove this heart now quiet,
Do so please: Quiet dignity.
Open my heart: Set free
The spirit, tears, stored there,
All the years of my life.
My heart has beat true,
From my first breath
It will to the last.
All the years of my life
My spirit has held a course,
Waiting, searching, hoping
For fulfillment: Was not blessed.
All the years of my life
My heart and spirit cried in silence,
For a love that would value both
While waiting: Was not found.
All the years of my life
Are close now to their end,
Yet still, this deep longing:
My only sure friend.
All the years of my life
Never given
to the one not found,
The love: Kept within.
At the last, at life's end
Before I am laid to rest,
Remove this heart now quiet,
Do so please: Quiet dignity.
Open my heart: Set free
The spirit, tears, stored there,
All the years of my life.
