Hello,

A short story I was once forced to read in high school about 15 years ago keeps resurfacing in my mind. I loved the story, the concept. It was called something like Looking-Glass Drive or Bottle-Neck Road.

The premise was that a man started his new job as a tax collector in some large city in England. While cleaning up the old files, he finds an old slip of paper displaying an address that does not exist. Through much searching, this man finds that a street was overlooked in the city mapping, and over time had ceased to exist to the outside world.

The man tracks down this tiny street, between two large buildings, and finds himself in a completely self-sufficient community. the people there are horrified to find they have been discovered after many decades. The man must struggle to decide whether to go back to the office and share his discovery, or stay in this new found community and keep his secret to himself.

Does anyone out there know this story?

Thank you,
Maddy
