Hey guys. I'm Danish, but I'm really not too familiar with my country's literature. I don't actually live in Danmark anymore, but I only knew Søren Kierkegaard and Hans Christen Andersen. (Just a humorous sidenote, Kierkegaard is so widely hated in Danmark that little children who behave badly are called "Little Sørens")

So I was in Barnes and Noble and I saw a book that caught my eye. "Seven Gothic Tales" by Isak Dinesen. I bought it, read it, and fell in love.

So you know, she was a Danish author who wrote, most famously, "Out of Africa".

I think she's absolutely wonderful, but a tad bit obscure and not at all prolific. Anyone heard of her before?

Don't know her, but the 'gothic tales' part got me interested...

I realize this is an old topic but...

I have not read anything although she's had an influence on one of my favorite Mexican writers so I learned today. Perhaps I'll read something by her when I find it.

Interesting comment about Kierkegaard as he is highly regarded elsewhere.
