I am doing a report for my Drama class in which I am createing a biogrpahy of a Character I played in our Christmas Play (Flying Monkey) To spice it up a bit I want to use some actual lore that is around the flying monkey. While looking for sources I found that flying monkeys originated from an Indonesian myth in which they chased spirits away from sleeping children. So I was hopeing that someone could point me in the way of that writing or another one that could assist me.

Sounds like an interesting project, but that is not a widespread area of expertise, the internet is your best tool at this.

Really? I thought Flying Monkeys originated with The Wizard of Oz.
What exactly are you looking for?

Hi Nid Vaeda...im totally surprised with this thread coz I'm an Indonesian :D :D and I will be happy to help you out. However I havent heard about the flying monkey thing. At first I suppose it's a part of traditional legends myths, however after i cheked, i cant find any local stories related to it.
I'll let you know when i got any updates :)

Maybe they are an introduced species, some creatures could have gone the opposite way of Dorothy over the rainbow.
