My (real) name is unique, I guess, as I haven't met anyone with that name yet. It is taken from a very old myth. I was picked on more than once at school for being the girl with the weird name (thanks Mom and Dad!) but, later in life, I have learnt to appreciate it because people tend to remember it just because it is unusual (it helped me with job applications!).

I wouldn't say my name is unique although I haven't met many people with my name.

My nick isn't unique, it's not meant to be. My real name Sean, and like Naimh is a pretty common one in Ireland too. I don't really see why your name has to be unique, as if it compensates for you somehow.
My name was a compromise because my mother didn't want me to have the same name as my father, John Joseph. So I'm Sean Joseph. But at least I don't get JJ.
Why do you need a unique name really? Englebert Humperdink for example, is unique, yeah, but I'd rather be known for something I've accomplished.

Could be worse, could be two of you in the same school with the same name. There were two Niamh Kings in my secondary school. She was two years ahead of me. Got so confusing i had to start going around as Niamh Anne.

I have five total syllables in my name, comprised of fourteen letters; this totals to the most common surname in the U.S., a recurring top 10 first name for newborn males, and a middle name that is all I have to even think of as "unique" (though again common): it's Welsh for John, which in turn means "Yahweh".

Of course my name is unique! How many bulletproof dorks do you know? :p

My name is certainly not unique but relatively uncommon where I live, which is why people have problems to spell it and if they see it written they pronounce it wrong and don't know whether I'm male or female. Pretty annoying.

My name is not unique, but I have two middle names, so maybe that's a little special?

My real name is pretty boring, Bec.
But a lot of my friends have crazy names: Lolly, Oriel, Love, Obsidian, Malachai.

My name is quite unique, i don't recollect a singal time where i didn't need to spell it out.
It's ironic, my parents spent ages looking for a non religious name, only after the naming did they realise I am in fact named after a catholic saint... God bless ;)

Niamh ("kneev") speaking of Irish names, how do you pronounce this beautiful girl's name that looks so gorgeous on the page: "Maeve" I thought it was pronounced "Mave" but someone said no, it's "Mayvie."
Maybe?
Also, the name "Englebert Humperdink" was a real name of a real composer of a previous century and was usurped by the Tom Jones-like pop singer.
and finally, Chava, I thought I was familiar with the names of all the saints, but this one is new to me! I'll look her up.
By the way, did you know that there really was a "Saint Chad," and he rose to fame for mediating turmoil caused by a local election!
My own screen moniker of course was inspired by a veteran
comedian, Shecky Green. I believe he was really funny, but he's not my fave. I usurped part of his name because of the comic "k" sonics, and also the humorous connotations.

Damnit. Well, you get my point anyways.
Naimh is pronounced Neeve. Like Steve.

My real name isn't unique at all, but in nearly 20 forums, and many, many hosting websites and google searches, I haven't found anyone else with my sn.

My name (Andrew) is far too common. So too is the variant "andy" which I hate - its kind of like school shorts, fine when you are younger than 8 but not sensible enough after that. I use Drew instead, it avoids confusion and doesnt sound as babyish

More like Mayv. like stave. So Mayve may be closer. One of the proper gaelic ways of spelling it is Meabhdh.

Seriously? My mates sister has the same name but its pronounced with an N. Thats also how I've read your name. Irish spelling always confused the hell out of me at school.

We~ll, I'm the only person my mother gave that name. That makes me pretty special I'd say. ;)
My last name is hyphenated so I don't expect seeing many people that share my last name. :D

My name is so unique and rare! I think I may be the only one on the planet named... wait for it, wait for it.... Ben!!!!!!!!!
yes I see the shock and awe in your eyes... you've never heard a name so amazing and original before... But I assure you, it is real.. my name really is Ben, well Benjamin for long, and well, don't be too jealous, or envious, it is only a moniker, albeit the rarest one around, but still just a name...
blah...

Pronounced with an N? How does that work out for Meave?
You Neeve/ steeve thing works out better than my Knee with a v sound at the end...
Irish spelling still confuses me.

My eyes widened in amazement when I heard this wonderful and extremely original name. I thought, woah, what sense of newness, of invention.
But then I thought, well, my name is rarer. No one in the world has ever seen the likes of it. the beauty, the charm of this most unique name.......
Jessica. *gasp* (I know you can't believe it)
Oh, "boohoo". None of your names is possibly rarer than mine...
Yes, it is indeed Pat (or Patrick for long). It may be the only one of its kind, except for the kid in my class, and the senior, and the kid with my exact name (First and Last!), and those five kids that were in my eighth grade history class, and...
Well, you get the point. Pat is a very, VERY rare name.

Really? I've only met one or two ppl named Pat.
That's funny about the kid with the same last name too. I have a very common first name (Sarah), but my last name is really unusual. I love my last name, even though people are always saying it wrong. :yawnb:

I win.
Because everyone hates Henry James!
My first name (Trevor) doesn't strike me as incredibly common, either. But perhaps this is just because I don't watch romantic comedies...

Hi there,
Who wants to argue?
Title 4 argument: WHY DO U THINK UR NAME IS SO UNIQUE?
That kind of suits me. Well, I believe my name really is unique because my mother thought of it. I was the first person to ever appear on this world with such a second name (if that really is true), though there were some other kids who followed (perhaps due to that TV stint).
