i remember a hat in a corner
painted with sorrow, rejection and death
black as reaper slowly chasing our dreams
a hat of western style, living free, and open hopes
with a silver lining of things yet to come
for every memory contains a man
and every man contains a dream
his dream was short and ended swift
but along the way he found his path
found his friends and lost his foes
found his love and passed away
for it was love that killed him
rotted his insides, slowly fading to nothing
my pleasant uncle who i never understood
was taken from me before i could fathom
his love for life and that which seemed wrong
his name i own, hat rests on my dreams
and i can`t help but wonder if our fates our twisted together, serpents of design.
