I must write a paper on the influence of Hoffmann and Poe, comparing two stories, one from each author. I've seen good material on the Doppelgänger motif, but to write about that it would be crucial to find Poe's "William Wilson". For some reason I couldn't find it anywhere (on the Internet, I mean; I have it at home but home is far away) and I was starting to become desperate when I remembered you have a lot of works available here at LitNet. And, surely enough, for my relief, I found it here!

I just felt like expressing my delight and eternal gratitude. Thank you!

One suggestion, though: I think Hoffmann deserves to be on this site! His works were tremendously influential. At least "The Sandman" should be available here ;)

Glad we were of help :)

Do you mean Ernst Theodor Amadeus Hoffmann (http://www.etahg.de/) (1776-1822)? I don't see any English translations of their work in public domain.

Oh, you were of help alright! I can't tell you enough how grateful I am :)

Yes, that would be the one! I don't know, am I allowed to post links? I've seen on the internet two of his most famous short stories, The Sandman (http://www.fln.vcu.edu/hoffmann/sand_e.html) and The Golden (Flower) Pot (http://www.horrormasters.com/Text/a0355.pdf), translated into english. There's always the problem of reliability, of course; the former seemed to me to be good enough, but I don't know yet about the latter.
