Have you ever had the misfortune to be seated next to someone who is constantly clicking pens, flicking things, moving chairs/desks and constantly sniffing during an exam? Did you want to punch them directly in the face?
I know exactly how you feel :)
The other day, I was placed next to a young man who clicked his pen and sqeaked his chair throughout the entire course of the 2 hour exam.
A message to those who fidget: don't. Or we will buy stabby pens ;)

It's usually the invigilators I get mad at. They talk to each other, in whispers, but you still hear everything they say!!:(
I had to tell two of them once to keep quiet....:p

OH yeah, G's up, hoes down...
...and on that note, if said irritator is directly in FRONT of you, how shalt thou strike said irritator? Huh? Yeah? WHAT?!?!?!

Did you want to punch them directly in the face?Yes, the thought has crossed my mind once or twice. This thread reminded me of an event that took place in the late 70's: An experience that went from irritatation via outrage to hysterical laughter....
During an exam I happened to be seated next to the local school rebel. At first everything seemed to be quite normal, but after a while he got rather restless, and started fidgeting with everything within reach and making some rather strange sounds. It got worse. and he got told off by both students and staff. He settled down, and calm was restored... ...for a while. Then a new sound effect was heard: Snoring! He had fallen asleep, and a teacher turned up to get him out of there. When he was led out a cartoon magazine fell from his papers, and he walked very unsteadily. It later turned out that he had made a detour to the chemistry lab before going to the exam, and a whole bottle of alcohol was missing
Naturally, this commotion rocked my concentration a bit, but as luck would have it, it was a four hour exam and I was able to gather my wits again and make up for the lost time.

I was once taken surprise by a math test, and the sound of this guy's pencil on the page as he furiously solved those problems drove me crazy as I struggled to remember the formula I was supposed to use. And then, the panic set it, and I felt hot, and my stomach cramped up, and every one was sniffling and coughing...grrrrr.....

Ummm punching? Not really (anti-violence stuff :p) but have been annoyed a little bit on the fact that during school tests (and sometimes even terminal exams) people don't bring their pencils and other stationary things and then they ask for it during the exam which can quite disturb your thinking process...oh and a little bit more annoying are the ways some adopt to cheat for exams.

:D Yes, but shhh... don't tell anyone.
Quite a bizzare thing happened a few days ago in my exams. Alot of people have mobile phones that are able to play mp3s; someone had their phone turned on during the exam and played one mp3 in particular.
I was writing away rather furiously when I heard "I'm playing with my nipples!" in a high pitched helium voice.
To be honest, I wasn't sure whether to burst out laughing or just shake my head in despair.

I quite often think about breaking someones' neck if it is thin enough. I mean, what a sweet crack it would make. Mmmm...breaking peoples' necks.
Also I sometimes think about eviscerating people and beating them senseless for no other reason but aesthetics.
I also organize imaginary violent fight scenes between random people who are around me in my mind.
Can get a bit distracting during an exam, though - I mean, who wouldn't get carried away when fantasizing about aesthetically pleasing violence?
What?

Yes, I really wanted to strangle a couple of people during our matriculation examinations last year...
If you have a habit of shaking your legs all the time, you should NOT wear shell suit pants that make a terrible, rustling noise whenever you move. I thought I'd go crazy, sitting a 6-hour-exam next to a person who couldn't keep his legs still.
Clicking one's pen/pencil is bad, too. And I hate it when people eat something noisy during exams (like apples or carrots).
You know, I actually almost liked the matriculation examinations, no matter how much stress they caused me, BUT I couldn't stand noisy people and the fact that the school gym we sat our exams in was so terribly cold and drafty.

Hi LadyW,
Actually yes but not to punch just to say "Shut Up Please" , not for students because all of us are suffering from the same exam but for the observers . They are talking during the exam , something make us can not concentrate.

 oh you made me laugh, I just had this image of people eating carrots in an exam
I'm really tired, so small things are getting to me...but that was funny! I don't think we can eat in our exams, water is acceptable and maybe a sweet or two...but nothing else. Though they could be good target objects: an apple or something to that annoying person sitting next to you...hmmm...that's an idea for next time...

Amazingly enough I can study for the exam with any amount of noise, and I frequently manage to go through all three of the LOTR movies as background noise at home. I've been known to study with music, people partying etc. But let me tell you, how I could injure someone during an exam when their phone is just on vibrate. The clicking pen - okay fine, restless leg syndrome () I can deal with that, but when someone's stupid phone goes off vibrating in their bookbag it drives me crazy.
Haven't gone so far as to think deliberately of hurting them but who knows, exams are starting to get very stressful. Interesting to think that some of our female litnetters are so violent in this regard!! :D

Oh, we were eating during our exams all the time
Okay, not really :D Mostly we didn't bring food to tests, though it wasn't forbidden. I must admit it is really annoying and frustrating to sit in an exam and smell the chocolate someone is eating behind you...
But matriculation examinations were a completely different matter. When normal exams were done in less than three hours, matriculation examinations were six hours each. You can't really concentrate that long time properly unless you have something to eat (and besides, eating really helped when you didn't know any answers, because that way you were at least doing something  and usually taking a little break helped you to come up with something to write :D). So, eating during tests is fine, but only as long as it's done relatively noiselessly

Here's one of my worst exam experiences:
I'm in the exam room, they're examing several courses in the same room, so there are an average of 500 students in there. I had the flu, which was near the end, which meant the dry cough.
Naturally, halfway through the exam, my throat starts to tickle, I try to stifle the cough, but my eyes begin to water...I have no mints, no water to drink to quell the cough that was about to burst out of me!
Frantically, I search the exam room and I spot a water-cooler [for the invigilators!] I saw an invigilator sitting nearby. When I finally catch her eye, she takes forever to rise from her seat. Why she was sitting immediately became apparant!
The woman is pregnant. Very pregnant. She takes forever to get to my chair. Finally I start to cough. I tried to beckon to her to get me some water before she comes to my seat, but she comes anyway. Through stifled coughs I beg her for some water. She takes her good time in walking to and back my seat, and by this time I've turned into the person whom you all hate, and want to stab in the exam, much to my chagrin!!!

Do you know how easy is to cheat in this way?

Call me childish, but it was rather hilarious... of all the places for that particular thing to go off.
Oh, for the record everyone... I would never actually punch anyone because they irritated me during an exam, nor do I feel the urge to - I'm merely exadurating because I find it annoying. I'm not a violent person ;) Right Lote?

Sorry Ladyw I did not mean too. It was a genuine question. Many people of the Indian Subcontinent marry their first cousins.

Well, as far as I am aware, I have no relations from the Indian Subcontinent. I'm fairly certain my parents are not related except via marriage of course... unless they just neglected to inform me. Which would explain why I am little bit strange...:)

My High school teacher wed her cousin...
And yes it was; King Charles II of Spain I believe, was an inbred (just look at his portrait - eek!).
However, I'm fairly sure I'm not an inbred :thumbs_up
