Attn poetry enthusiasts:
I am searching for a poem that my father used to recite when I was a kid. He is 87-years-old now and cannot remember the words, nor does he have recorded anywhere. The following words are the beginning of the poem and I have typed the words as (I remember) he prounounced them.
"'Dat dog he 'vas 'dat kind of dog
'dat catched 'dat rat so sly
'und squeezed 'im wit' those little teeth
and 'den 'dat rat must die."
The poem continues telling the story of a dog who sticks his nose where it doesn't belong and ends up with his nose being snapped by the pinchers of a crab and the dog is running from the market stand. The poem closes with describing how we (humans) should be careful where we stick our nose lest we end up like that dog.
Can anyone help me with the poem title, rest of poem, its origin and author?
