See Paradise Lost, Book 2: 299-380.
I'm sure he must be introduced before this section (his speech at the council in hell), but I can find no previous mention. I also don't know if he shows up again afterwards, as I haven't finished the poem yet. Anyway, Moloch, Belial, and Mammon all give speeches suggesting various courses of action in getting revenge on God - either Mammon or Belial, though, says they should just stay put and chill - but then Beelzebub chimes in, with an idea previously discussed between him and Satan. He's sort of like Satan's tool in the council: he's the last speaker, he brings up Satan's idea - with the privileged information of earth and the race of man - enabling Satan to get his way while maintaining a front of republicanism.
Hope that helps a little.

Beelzebub, as I recall is a satan. I read in paradise Lost He was a rebel and rebelled against GOD. God I think is something that is understood in compariosn and I doubt God would exist if there was no satan.

Both are complementary.

Beelzebub is the Prince of Demons, not Satan.

You may read of him in II Kings 1:2, 3, 6, 16. Heretical King Ahaziah sought his prophecy in regard to his ill health and was condemned by prophet Elijah for failing to pray to Yahweh.

Christian tradition erroneously equates him with Satan. This is because Jesus was accused by the Pharisees of casting out demons by the power of Beelzebub in Matthew 12:24-27. But it was a charged denied by him.

Paradise Lost

Still another book that I read many moons ago! Some day I will have to read it again.

Perhaps someone may start a group reading here in a few months. It should be quite a read! :)

He is a rebel who does not want to submit to the tyrannies of God. Who wants to live independently not subserviently or submissively. I think he is a freedom seeker.

Beezlebub is the Lord of the Flies some theorize it may be a corruption of Baal/Baalzebub/Baalberith and the title may be referring to the fact Baal worship involved human sacrifice and cannibalism. As one should know many nations in the world's history practiced cannibalism. For these practices the Israelites were commanded to destroy all inhabitants of Canaan in order to purge the whole land of these barbaric religions.

Some people even believe the word cannibal is a derivative of Canaan-Baal. Cannibalism in the ancient worship of Baal in Canaan.

It is interesting that Beezlebub is mentioned in the NT.

Beelzebub, the devil, Satan, that serpent of old, the dragon, Lucifer..... Lord of the flies......I could go on and on, but you should get the idea by now just who beelezbub is. If you don't know then read Revelation. He is a Master of many demons or fallen angels as they are referred too. He is the great deceiver and will become manifest in the form of the anti-christ!

I also know him from the Lord of the Flies as being synonymous with the devil.

It's interesting that Beelzebub grew in stature so much. He--it--started out as a local deity and grew to be a prince of demons and Satan himself--itself. Just goes to show you that devils and demons and gods grow and evolve.

Beelzebub is a fredom fighter. Someone that revolts against authority,
a self-governed person who values emancipation more than anything, the one who launched a series of battles against hegemonic gods. The one who wants history redrafted, destinies rewritten, values redefined, the sense of freedom and independence revisited. Averse to slavery that has gobbled up denizens of he heavens for over millenniums and even now all over the world, he is an archetype of liberty and deliverance. If you are interested I will keep on writing and introducing him and maybe write a book in praise of him

This is trash. Ideas that worked to screen the fact. Most of us love or feel comfortable to be hoodwinked. We are too lazy to look beyond the seen

Beelzebub, as is commonly understood in satanism, is the right hand man of Lucifer. He, along with Lucifer, was one of the arch-angels swept out of heaven when the war agains god was lost, as written about in inferno by Dante, and Paradise Lost by Milton, and the book of enoch

Fascinating, I am mildly surprised at how little people know of the gods who ruled before El drove others into early retirement. Beelzebub was one of the Gods of the Canaanites. Since he wasn't El, El tried to make hiom out as a demon.
This is not a good article, but it has some good information.
