Ah, boring thread you might think, but I'm in a desperate need for help.

I'm on leave from the army (finally) till thursday, so I want a book to read while I'm home. I've just finished A Song of Ice and Fire - A Game of Thrones, but I need a little break from the seven kingdoms before I read A Clash of Kings.

Well, like I said, I thought I'd read a book while I'm home, preferably not a book in the same genre as A Song of Ice and Fire. Problem is, I have too many books to read! What tempts me most is The Best of H.P. Lovecraft - Black Seas of Infinity or something from Nabokov (I own Pnin, Lolita, Pale Fire, and Speak Memory. Well, I have about 50 other books I've never read before, most of them published by Everyman's Library. Soo, if anyone is willing to lend some recommending words on what I should read, I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks

Hope you have a great time while on leave, Nico! :)

You might find one of the books in our Book Reviews section interesting:

Well,Nabokov is a great choice - I'd start with Pnin, then read Lolita and cap it off with Pale Fire.

Read Lovecraft first, then Nabokov. Start with Speak Memory, then read Lolita; both are excellent, but Speak Memory will make you want to read more great prose. After you have read those, you'll want to use A Clash of Kings in the woodstove.
