Why are only 1984/Animal Farm 'great' books worth reading? Orwell's other books are masterpieces in their own right. Coming Up for Air is brilliant - Orwell approaches the themes of nature and globalism (and famously predicts WW2) but is less fatalistic and misanthropic at this stage of his life.
Four books good, two books bad!

I think your final statement sais it all!
It took me a while to understand why you had posted this post.
But when I finally got it, I tried to look for George Orwell's bibliography on this very on-line-literature site and couldn't find it. How is it possible?
GO wrote some great books (besides Animal Farm and 1984), "Down and Out in Paris and London" and "Homage to Catalunia" being 2 more examples.
Long Live George's books! All of them.
