I am working on an assignment and need to find five quotes by critics in reaction to the works of Victor Hugo. I’ve been searching and searching and I can’t find anything. Does anyone know a source for this information? I would greatly appreciate any help.

I was actually recently looking for similar info on Hugo's novel, not the play, in English but found it difficult to find many sources on the `net. Hugo did cause a lot of controversy with Les Mis...
This site (http://www.gavroche.org/vhugo/) has some 19th c and contemporary reviews/essays, "tributes and literary references" etc. hosted by Cornell University.
You could also check out Gustave Flaubert's letters to George Sand (http://www.online-literature.com/gustave-flaubert/sand-flaubert-letters/) There are some hits for 'Hugo':

And... if you can get your hands on it, Barnes and Noble's Les Mis (http://search.barnesandnoble.com/booksearch/isbnInquiry.asp?z=y&EAN=9781593080662&itm=1#TABS) has supplemental info to the novel.
