This day that drags on
Crawls into emptiness
Hour by hour, unchanging
Grinding forward in pointlessness
Turning all to dust in its wake
Like a snail of granite
Leaving a shining trail of bones.

Slowly the earth turns
Ever lazy and unchangeable
Slouching in its eternal orbit
Slowly, ever slowly, crawling
Wasting away
Just the same today as eons before
Just as predictable as always.

What is this day?
It doesn’t matter!
For all our time we spend
Rushing wilder than furious winds
Crashing, remodeling, and blowing ourselves up
Into things we are not
Is all in the pursuit of vanity.

It’s so useless-
Why such a hurry?
Our lives are fleeting
The morning vapors of the universe
Blown away quickly, quietly, efficiently
Our existence swept away into a dusty corner
A splinter in the trail of destruction that is time
A shining, slimy mist.

Thus then, what is today?
Today is just another yesterday
And another thousand tomorrows
Today is a date on a calendar
Today is over.
Tomorrow begins.

This is really a good poem to read. In fact today is simply a split of time, whereas time is really not measurable, and we measure it for our convenience, but in reality it goes beyond scales of measurements.

What we call today is part of the entire time factor. It is from one perspective nothing and from another it is just a wave.

Time is a wave and in fact waves are kind of perceived realties, but not realities themselves.

You have used very nice imagery in this poem, I liked the way that some of the phrases spun together. Yes, this is a good poem, I enjoyed it. And welcome to LitNet, too! :)
