I saw in your profile that you're from sunny California. That's why I brought this gift for you. It's a beach chair as it is used on German beaches. Perfect for reading!

Happy birthday, Petrarch's Love!

Here's something tasty you won't find in Chicago:
http://i92.photobucket.com/albums/l11/bluevictim/innoutb.jpg

Here's a song for your birthday:

Well, East coast girls are hip,
I really dig those styles they wear,
And the Southern girls with the way they talk,
they knock me out when I'm down there.
The Midwest farmers' daughter
really makes you feel alright,
And the Northern girls, with the way they kiss,
they keep their boyfriends warm at night.

I wish they all could be California,
(wish they all could be California)
I wish they all could be California girls.

The West coast has the sunshine
and the girls all get so tan,
I dig a french bikini on Hawiian Island dolls,
by a palm tree in the sand.
I been all round this great big world
and I seen all kinds of girls,
yeah, but I couldn't wait to get back in the states,
back to the cutest girls in the world.

I wish they all could be California,
(wish they all could be California)
I wish they all could be California girls.

Happy Birthday L... I mean Petrarch's Love;) Here's a little artistic gift for you: a painting by the late Victorian/Pre-Raphaelite painter, Marie Spartali Stillman and portrays a subject certainly known to you: First Meeting of Petrarch and Laura in the Church of Santa Chiara at Avignon

http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k255/Stlukesguild/stillmandante4.jpg

The painter studied under the Pre-Raphaelite, Ford Maddox Brown and was well-known for her paintings of Renaissance themes based upon Dante, Petrarch, Boccaccio, Shakespeare, etc... Not only talented, Stillman was a gorgeous woman of whom Swinburne said, "She is so beautiful that I want to sit down and cry." Stillman's beauty would be preserved in paintings by Edward Burnes-Jones, Dante Gabriel Rossetti, and Whistler and in the photography of Julia Margaret Cameron. Another example that brains and beauty need not be mutually exclusive.:brow: :bday_2:

I can relate. :D

Thanks again to everyone!

Miss Tenderness--More dancing bananas always appreciated
Kiz--What a wonderful cake. Looks delicious for both the spirit and the tastebuds.
Mother H--Looks delicious. :)
Blue-- Now I feel like the brickwall smiley (:brickwall) because I'm thinking I should have gone to In 'N Out for my birthday lunch. Must make a point of making a trip before I leave town. The song was great too. The Beach Boys had good taste. :D
Symphony--The painting is beautiful, and I wasn't familiar with the artist. Love those reds. Thanks.
Drama--Thanks. Strangely enough no books this year, but that's probably because everyone feels I read too much already and need another book like a hole in the head. :p
St. Luke's--Thanks for the appropriately Petrarchan painting. I tried to make that my avatar here once, but it came out much too tiny once I got it to the regulated size. I didn't ever know much about Stillman, except that she painted things like Renaissance poets at the dawn of unrequited love. What with her beauty reducing Swinburne to tears on a regular basis, it's no wonder she identified with Laura.
