How does Robert Louis Stevenson use: character, setting, narrative structure and language to explore the theme of the duality of human nature in the Victorian novel, The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr Hyde?'

Go back and imagine yourself as the observer. Mr. Hyde goes about at night. Mr. Utterson tries to find him at night. Mr. Hyde tramples the child at night. Lots of long shadows, foggy days, all obscuring you (the viewer) from seeing clearly. Mr. Hyde's horrible appearance is hidden by dark. The courtyard of Dr. Jekyll: what would that look like? 3 sides would be walls, which would obscure any light. Dr. Jekyll has lots of stealthy movement in shadow (window) and dark. Don't forget about the midnight visit to Dr. Lanyon. The setting becomes a critical character and plays a part in the overall mystery as well as the ultimate revelation of the characters. Imagine yourself trying to SEE what his happening! Then you can answer the question, go back and think about the setting in each scene...what does it look like? sound like? feel like? (hot? cold?) ...If you could only just see things more clearly...
