Thought For A Day

It is miserably cold today, one they say,
No telling what the wind chill is,
And the high will be fifteen, but sun,
so much of it in the blue sky.
But I see the bare branches whipping around
in the wind, waiting for me, payback perhaps?
For this morning I turned a cold shoulder to
a man, a stranger for his extra ell.
"It's really cold, stay warm and be carefull."
Carefull.
But then I was strangely warmed by that thought,
care full, be full of care, and I began to melt,
I answered, "Thank you, you be carefull too."

A thought for all days! I like the way this triumphs over the environment nature makes and the one we make for ourselves.

You leave me no option than to inflict on you a traditional Jewish curse!

May you grow very, very rich!
And may you come into possession of a large, fine mansion with many, many bedrooms!
And may you have a tooth-ache so bad that all night long you toss from room to room and bed to bed!

Sticks and stones have undertones
So look out, I might throw one! :D

heh, you two are cute... anyways, as far as the poem, I like it. It captures a moment, and leaves the reader to draw his/her own judgements. I always loved that about bukowski.

Amp, I really enjoyed the message in your little poem. The ending was sweet -- the phrase

But then I was strangely warmed by that thought,
care full, be full of care, and I began to melt, really stood our for me. :)

In the midst of cold weather to be warmed by a stranger's care. Things are not all wrong with this world.
