Hi all
I remember reading a short story in an omnibus about ten years ago, and would very much like to track it.
It starts with a man in army fatigues lying on a bed under a fan. At some signal he gets up, assembes a machine gun and goes outside, shooting people at random. He walks through a park, into a playground, into a building and into the elevator, killing people as he passes. Then he goes back home.
As he lies down on the bed again the scene splits to show all the people he's killed standing up, unharmed, responding oddly. The final shot is of him taking off his dogtags which read "Cupid".
I'm sorry if you wanted to read this story and I've just ruined it for you :) Anyone have any idea of the title and writer?
I'd love you forever.
