This was originally posted as a game called Bucket Poem but it didn't work as a game. I asked to have it moved but maybe I didn't ask correctly or at the right place. Sorry. :(
Anyway.....

I recently saw The Bucket List with Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman. It was cute, made me chuckle, made me smile, but mostly made me think. The premise of the movie was to complete the things on your bucket list, the things you would like to do before you kick the bucket.
I usually have a hard time thinking of anything but I have a couple.

Garrison

I want to meet Garrison Keillor face to face.
I don't necessarily want to hug him or kiss him
or even shake his hand.
I don't want to shoot the breeze
or get his autograph,
though I might enjoy a duet or two;
but the thing I want most
is to look into his eyes so he will know
how much his stories have touched me.
And if he wants to reach up and wipe
the tear coming from my eye,
that will be okay too.

Replace Garrison with Stephen King and you have my version of your poem. :)

I hope you get to meet your Garrison Keillor, maybe even slip this poem inside his coat pocket to make sure he knows.

I sent it to him. On his website you can make Posts to the Host and if he chooses, it might be printed for all of his fans to see. Will that mean I'm published? lol :D

Cirque du Soleil

Most circuses, I cannot go,
I've been, but cannot remember smiling,
Those grimaced faces, proud
of their authority over beautiful beasts.
Let them go! Let them go!

No, wait!

They'll get hit by cars or screamed at
for their innocent tramplings,
looking for sustenance, their terrain,
a likeness to nuzzle, to stand beside,
or run and jump, free.

But this circus, I can go,
Cirque du Soleil, acts so beguiling,
my face, amazed, in the crowd,
Human performance beyond all limits,
May I go? May I go?

What date?

Those jumping, twisting, acrobats,
With lights and music in each ring,
I'll hold my breath, my neck, I'll crane,
to not be moved would be a lie,
fantastic time, a guarantee.

But if perchance the answer's no,
There is that circus life will bring,
Things we do to break the brow,
Hide the sun, cause to grimace,
Bring you low? Do you know?

Like bent out of shape from bending over backwards,
jumping through hoops or tied in knots,
Climbing the walls and stretching ourselves to the limit.

Yes, like they say, life is a circus.

Perhaps he will read your poem on A Pararie Home Companion on PBS. It would be better than some of the things I've heard him read there...http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l108/AbsalomKane/Smilies/Duh.gif

Yes, life is a circus and we,
seated (as I recall) on those plank seats,
are the unheralded, unpaid stars,
pretending not to be the freaks.

Great poem, m'dear!

Thank you Prince Jerry, even though I did have to solicit your comment. ;) ;)

Believe me, I've been solicited by far worse women.
