Who may know how I could start publishing poetry in magazines and the sort. I am interested in sending in my poetry for printed copy in magazines and was just curious if anyone could help?

Who may know how I could start publishing poetry in magazines and the sort. I am interested in sending in my poetry for printed copy in magazines and was just curious if anyone could help?I used a book that is published yearly called the Poet's Market. It lists publishers pretty much world-wide who take poems. It instructs you on how to match your poetry to specific markets. It takes time and patience, but I managed over 150- odd poems published in this manner over about 7 years or so. Then I burnned out for a while. It's both fun and heart-wrenching. I have a large box of rejection slips, and got back poems marked up until they were illegible. I got in fights with editors, some of which I won, most of which I lost. But I loved every second of it. Try it!

The pay is usually a copy of the magazine. I think I made $15 the whole time. But hey, I was appearing in magazines with Presidents! (Jimmy Carter), novelists, short story specialists, and known poets! Who cared?
