It's basically Tennyson musing over the death of Arthur Hallam, who was one of his greatest friends and his future brother-in-law.

It's over 100 cantos long and is probably the greatest thing Tennyson ever wrote, though I believe Ulysses is better.

There's no real plot, so I don't know what you want with a summary..
