Equine
.......for S

The lovely Chicago divorcee woke to a morning of sunshine. She stretched and thought, "I must go to the country today".

Dressed in her Magnificent Mile riding habit, she strode across the stable grounds. There he stood, shuffling a bit. His flanks rippled as she ran her hands over him, walking around, checking him out.

As she stood in front of him, he blinked at her with his beautiful soft eyes. He thought he would take the chance and try to nuzzle her ear. She recoiled and reached up, stretching his lips, exposing his teeth.

"What's this?" she cried.

She pulled her hands away and wiped them on the towel given to her by the stable boy. They stood looking at each other for a few moments, the horse and the divorcee. He looked at her deeply, trying in his telepathic way to say, "Hey babe, wanna share a carrot?"

She broke away from his gaze and something made her look down at the rings on her fingers.
"Hmpf!" she said, turning and walking away.
With a sharp little crack, she snapped her whip against her calf, saying, "He will never do!"

Silly? I know. It had a purpose.

I don't know if it's truly "silly" but it is somewhat enigmatic. As the opening to the story that might unfold more, it's sharp, authoritative and compelling.

Hmmm...maybe I'll work on that and see what happens.

I can tell you straight off some of what will happen if you do work on it:

1) The mail will arrive tomorrow.
2) Barack & Hillary will continue to exchange barbs.
3) The Patriots will (almost certainly) whomp the Giants.
4) Rudy Giuliani will come up with an explanation of how his second place finish in Florida was actually a triumph.
5) You will wonder once again whether to upholster that sofa in your living room.

Amp, I love stuff like this -- there is obviously a hidden meaning, one close to your heart. But yeah, I enjoyed your simple way of telling the untold. :thumbs_up

And Prince, you never fail to crack me up, btw!

~scratches head~ I like the writing - but the meaning is well-hidden.
