I feel so stupid now! Now when I see Silence Reigns In The Western Façade, it is so obvious that it is All Quiet on the Western Front. :p I was thinking To Kill a Mockingbird also, but I wasn't positive (I wasn't sure if there was some book floating around out there that I didn't know existed with a songbird in the title). So, I also agree with that one. :)

There is a word for a stiring song meant to inspire, a song that has meaning for a particular group or people, that directly translates "Sacred song". And I told you what it was in all that.
The word is Anthem by Ann Rynd. I did everything but tell you national song, guys... http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l108/AbsalomKane/Four/Mime.gif

2. Optimistic Since Servitude (Take word at a time and work on it, the author's initials are BTW)

5. You – He’s (A math problem to solve, but all hinges on another name for minus)
10. Chapel Terra (already established that Terra is "Earth". What is a "chapel?"

5. (You) ( – ) (He’s) A word in three part's. If you find the right word for the dash, combined with the other words as they are it will name a book

You are not reading the hint very closely, mes amis, or you have never watched a magician...
Lol, I just ran Babylon on 'figment' and got this (the paragraph below) so I thought perhaps ...
Figment, a small purple dragon, occasionally seen sporting a yellow sweater, is the mascot of the Imagination! pavilion at the Epcot theme park at Walt Disney World Resort. He first appeared in March 1983 in the pavilion's Journey Into Imagination dark ride, in which Dreamfinder, a jolly wizard-like scientist, created him and taught him how to use his imagination. Figment is meant to be the literal embodiment of the phrase "figment of the imagination." He is composed of various elements Dreamfinder found in his travels including two tiny wings, large yellow eyes, the horns of a steer (or dilemma, according to a 1983 appearance on the Today Show), a crocodile's snout, and the childish delight found at a birthday party. In "One Little Spark," Dreamfinder introduces him: "Two tiny wings, eyes big and yellow, horns of a steer, but a lovable fellow. From head to tail, he's royal purple pigment, and there, voila, you've got a Figment."
OOOOOH, close! What is this lone hunter? Use your clues!!! http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l108/AbsalomKane/Sherlock.gif

Okay, Pen, I actually had number 8, but I wasn't familiar with the story by W. Irving. It's The Devil and Tom Walker. (although a tom actually a larger drum than say a snare).
10. Roughing It? But I should get a half-point for tying the gruel to Oliver Twist.

Yes. There is no book entitled Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone on J.K. Rowlining site.
Outside of the United States, The First Harry Potter book is called The Philosophers Stone as you can see from this book cover.
http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c185/bec-bec14/HP%20Actors%20and%20Actresses%20etc/PS.jpg
and here on wiki.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harry_Potter_and_the_Philosopher%27s_Stone:)
If it was a US based site, of course it wouldnt have it. But it is the Actual title used in the majority of the world.
vheissu

I never really understood why the changed the title for the US edition. There was an article in a paper once that explained it...seems a bit unnecessary
For N.9 I keep thinking of The Golden bowl by Henry James. But then branch and bowl are not really related words...?
Niamh
02-07-2008, 06:38 PM
It was called the sorcerers stone in the US because the publishers didnt think the US would have enough mythological knowledge of what the Philosophers stone was to call it that, so they went with the sorcerers stone instead. But it is believed that J.K regrets giving in to the US publishers over the title and wished she insisted on the Philosophers stone because it makes more sense in the context of the book.

Sorry for the confusion over the Harry Potter book. I do these from memory, and I thought it was "Philosopher's Stone" from the movies but checked the official site at the last second. There I saw "Sorcorcer's Stone" and the way I worded it made it "Sorcorcer's Stone" as a "Philosopher" is not a "Magician". Sorry. :( Didn't know about the dual titles, I don't read Harry Potter! :p

Time for hints, which I hate.
#6. Sinister Digits of Blackness (Think of the original meaning of "sinister" the rest should fall into place.)
#7. You know, this could be a rabbit, here… ( Or you could truncate "rabbit" and let the "Be" catch up...)
#16. The Graverobbers (Horror Tale by Robert Louis Stevenson)
#20. The Silhouette of the Airstream (Straightforward translation)
