Hello all! I was browsing the net today when I started wondering if there's a forum somewhere for people who love literature... and I was right! Nice to be here. Hopefully you guys are cool so I'll want to stick around.

Quick things about me- I'm a 20 year old English major guy- taken (sorry ladies!); I love to read almost anything from classic lit, philosophy, and more modern stuff to fantasy and sci-fi; I'm very into music and playing in a band (I play bass and am teaching myself piano... making some progress!). But enough about me. Let's get down to the discussion!

Right now I'm currently reading Iron Council by China Mieville. Then, I've got a bunch of stuff for classes to read, but hopefully I won't have so much getting in the way of revisiting James Joyce with Dubliners. I read Ulysses a few weeks ago, found it confusing as hell, and now want to read more.

Just out of curiousity what is Iron Council about ?

Well, it's about China Mieville's political beliefs from what I've bee told. But, seriously, so far not much has happened. I'm about 150 pages in, and so far it's about this group of people (mostly gay or bisexuals?) who are traveling out of New Crobuzon to beat the Militia to the Iron Council (still undefined). There's also a sub plot about a group of puppeteers.

Main characters so far include a golem raiser and a whisper smith. But since this is not a fantasy forum, I won't go into any more depth.
