An AIDS Victim Bearing The "WORLD'S" Treatment
He has waxed his ears with hardened wax,
And choked his breath into shallow gasps,
Blind to the world, he sees little,
He ponders less and thinks no more,
With his senses snatched away from him,
He's been shunned from the WORLD so recklessly,
THEY have murdered his very desire for life,
So he waits for the blood to rot in his veins!

This is strange that I am the only one to comment on this, I think this is a tough poem.
I love the rhythm of these lines:
Blind to the world, he sees little,
He ponders less and thinks no more,
It reads well aloud.
The graphic tone of the last line has a good effect to emphasize the purpose of the poem, I think.
The line:
With his senses snatched away from him,
is intriguing.

Yes, I too regret that this has not drawn more comment. Aside from the sentiment (with which I wholly agree) it is so strongly put.

It is a tough subject and I guess I sometimes fear I will say something really stupid due to my ignorance. I do believe it is wonderfully written. It leaves me with so many questions.

Unfortunately, I think the line
THEY have murdered his very desire for life,
is the cry that makes this so sad. People forget the few ways AIDS can be transfered and they shun people who have it as though they had Bubonic Plague. They can be touched, comforted, talked to, friends, supported.
The same goes for persons with mental illnesses. Many can function rather normally, but they must bear the stigma of the full-blown axe-in-both-hands out-of-their-gourd madperson! And it hurts! It sucks the life out of you, the will to live.
And in the case of the poor AIDS patient, they don't have long to live. With support and people to make that life worth hanging onto, they might live longer and even be more healthly longer. But being shunned, they give up. Without the desire to live, they slip away quickly, murdered by the uncaring.
Think about that the next time you attach stigma to someone. You may be shortening their life. The mental patient feeling no one cares anyway may be the next suicide. The AIDS patient may die lonely and forgotten in months, when they might have had a few years. Think about it very carefully.

This is really touching. Yet the fact is everyone is a victim of some type in this bloodied world.

Thanks for the comments guys!
I agree with you Pendragon, and the inspiration for this poem came from an AIDS patient whom I had heard saying,"I hate to live!"After being discovered with that beastly disease,he was kicked out of his job and his friends had abandoned him.
It appeared as the most cruel thing one can do to someone!

Yeah, the human tragedy/comedy is that we are selfish.
