Fire One Arrow
I saw her, my Venus, her of the perfect body and beauty.
I worshiped her from a distance, for I dared not come close.
Well did I know that I was not her selected type of alpha male.
I saw him then in the evening as I did my dreary job of janitor.
I thought at first that I was just hallucinating, having been huffing again.
But no, he had wings and was carrying a nice bow and arrow.
“Hey, Cupid!” Yes, that was his name for he flew over to me and hovered.
“May I help you?” “I hope so. I need you to shoot someone for me. A girl.”
“Yeah. I’m here for that.” “Really!” I couldn’t believe my good fortune!
The wall lit up with pictures of my Venus, always being aloof with me.
“Not her, my friend. You think she would change if I made her love you?
She is cold in the heart. You would have a cold marriage. Ending in divorce.”
The wall showed another girl. Pretty, but not made like a Venus. We were laughing together.
We always had lunch together. We told each other our most precious secrets and problems.
I realized that I had always loved her. We were best of friends. That is why I hadn’t asked.
“There is the girl I will shoot for you. Her heart is warm and pure. She is true.
Your marriage will not always be easy but it will be full of love which binds.
There will be no ending of this marriage until the Reaper takes his toil. Shall I?” I nodded.
A Venus that is cold and aloof will never beat a Virgo whose heart is pure and loving.
When the two become one and there is love and understanding not one rule the other
Then marriage solidifies into something worthwhile and worth keeping. Cupid knew…
