Compulsion (Parody of Masefield)
I must go out to the Night again,
To the friendly, starry sea—
To speak again to my silent friend
Who may never answer me…
I must go out to the Night again,
Where the wind blows cool and fresh,
And there are no brilliant, blazing lights,
And burns upon my flesh…
I must go out to the Night again,
Until death shall lay me low;
Then far beyond the final void of Night,
My soul shall once more glow…
