View Full Version : I miss my love of coffee!
Have you ever found that you can't seem to enjoy your favorite foods anymore? You eat or drink them, but you don't feel the same way about them and you miss that feeling?
Maybe it's just me but, the morning sickness stage of this pregnancy seems to have rearanged my tastebuds. Fortunately, I weened myself off of the caffeine, but I was still drinking at least 60 ounces of decaf a day simply because I liked the taste. Now that the morning sickness is over, I still don't really want it. I have a cup every once in a while, but I miss savoring the smell and flavor! It's just not the same!:bawling: :bawling: I hope it comes back after the baby is born!

I don't even eat food anymore. I just hook an IV up to my vein and pump them vitamins and proteins straight in!

Oh yes I know the feeling! I used to enjoy chocolate a lot more than I do today!! Maybe I have eaten too much of it.
Also, I had a strong love for Mac Donald's burgers, fries and ice creams but it has just worn off! Well, not the ice cream, but the burger and fries, yes! That makes me save money, ok, but in the meantime I remember how I loved it so much and I was even addicted to it. I needed my Mc Do, and I don't need it anymore. :( :bawling:

Your taste buds really do odd things when you're pregnant and sometimes things go back to normal and sometimes they don't. I hope you regain your love of coffee, I know that love and it would be a shame to lose it. ;)

Definitely. If I eat too much of the same stuff, even though I may like it a ton in the beginning, I usually end up quite tired of it.
I recently (well about a year and a half ago) had to give up soda because of my teeth - I didn't drink all that much to begin but my teeth are just naturally bad - so I only drink it very, very seldomly - like once every 7-8 weeks - but I find that it has made it taste so much better. I only drink it if I'm really craving it and I guess that makes it that much more satisfying. =]

I know the feeling too. I have always associated it with bad mood ;)

I really hope you get your taste buds back to their normal state....it probably is the pregnancy (congratulations!!!:) ), but I really wouldn't know.
Yes, there are some things I don't seem to enjoy as much as I used to. It's mainly sweet things though...though I keep telling myself that I have evolved my sense of taste to a more 'refined' level :p Though I still love chocolate!

That reminds me of how I once was addicted to soda (coke). It was terrible, I needed it, even at breakfast!

That was me and pickles during morning sickness. I had this weird taste in my mouth that made everything I ate taste like sand:sick: . The only thing that fixed it was pickles.
Then again, I've always asked for a side of pickes whenever I order pancakes. They help to neutralize the sweetness of the syrup so that I can eat more of them. Otherwise I stop before I'm full (which would probably be a good thing anyway.:D )

But...you mix pickles with a sweet pancake? That sounds like a strange mix, eheh. :D
Ah, I cannot really tell since I have never eaten a pancake. They don't really do that in France. We eat something else called 'crepe', it's quite delicious. :D Oh God I want one now. :p
Hm I'm not sure... I always love things the same way I used to I think. I'm addicted to chocolate and can't see that changing...Maybe I'm a bit less "used" and addicted to some things I don't have handy in the UK, but when I go back home I savour every bit of them.

Do you find yourself liking foods that you normally don't like? When I was pregnant, I would want stuff I usually couldn't stand. Or I'd want something so bad and when I would eat it, it would make me sick. Pregnancy does make a mess of ones tastebud, but they usually get back to normal after the baby comes.

Haven't had that happen just yet. I'm not really a picky eater except when it comes to chocolate and cofee. I've never liked any dark chocolate, and I don't like American chocolate. I've never understood the popularity of Barnies and Starbucks because I think their cofee tastes burned.
Other than that, I pretty much like to eat anything, but I was curious to know if I would crave Hershey or Starbucks, but not so far...
I've had to add cheez-it's to my list of what I don't like since pregnancy though, unfortunately.
